The relationship between DRH Lindersvold and Humana People to People is based on collaboration and mutual support. Although they are independent entities, they have been partners for more than 20 years. DRH Lindersvold focuses on training volunteers, while Humana People to People provides a space for them to take part in its projects. This creates a strategic partnership in which both organizations complement each other in order to achieve common goals in the field of international cooperation and development. # Why does the program cost money? It is mandatory for volunteers joining Humana People to People projects to be trained and prepared to volunteer with ethics, a spirit of cooperation, mutual learning, and respect. The cost of the program covers the training at DRH Lindersvold. The Humana People to People host organization covers the expenses related to the international volunteering stage, including return travel, health insurance, visas, malaria prophylaxis, and a monthly allowance to cover food, local transport, and some pocket money. # Will I be safe overseas? Yes. The safety of participants is very important. The countries where the projects take place offer safe working environments, and the projects themselves are well established. Before the project stage, participants also review the safety regulations of the country they will be travelling to, including emergency contacts, the nearest medical centers, and other important practical information. # Are couples, friends and family members able to do the programs together? Yes. Couples, friends, and family members can join the program together, as long as each person meets the eligibility requirements. # Can I work or go to school while doing the program? No. The program is a 24/7 commitment and requires full attention. It is also important for the success of the team that each participant is fully committed and that the group works together throughout all stages of the program. # Why do we ask our participants to agree to our no drugs and no alcohol policy? At DRH Lindersvold, participants are part of a community that strives to be an example of international cooperation and development. In this context, alcohol and drugs can get in the way, as they divide the community, distract from the objectives of the program, and put safety at risk. # Can I choose which project I volunteer with? Volunteers may have the opportunity to work on projects focused on education, public health, agriculture, community development, or climate change. Project availability and placement are defined by Humana based on the needs of the projects and the local communities. Experience shows that, regardless of the project area, participants enjoy the volunteer stage and learn a great deal, whichever project they support. # How will I be able to contact my friends and family during the project stage? Participants are able to stay in touch with friends and family by text message, phone calls, email, or social media. However, it is important to keep in mind that some areas may have limited internet access. For this reason, getting a local SIM card is recommended, as it is generally easy to arrange and helps ensure that participants can be easily reached.
